The Information Generation

Some have classified this time in history as the "Information Age." Thus, those of us growing up during these exciting times could be classified as the "Information Generation." On a personal note, I like this much better then "Generation X." Something about not having a purpose does not sit well with me. (have they upgraded my generation status yet?)
Anyway, a blessing or a curse of this Information Generation is the ability to communicate with people worldwide through places like Myspace and Blogger. I am perhaps a late comer to the whole blogging world and so I am discovering new things every day about this vast world. When I first started with blogger it was to play around with the HTML and CSS side of it but I soon discovered how much fun it was to write random things that perhaps a few people might read because they were bored. These last few weeks I have become distracted with another facet of the blogging/networking world.

FACEBOOK!!!!!

This wonderful place is a great way to find friends that you have not seen in awhile. The thing about Facebook is that you cannot view someone else's site unless they have accepted you as a friend. That gives you a lot more confidence and freedom in what you can write knowing that only your friends will see it. I first started an account because a friend wanted me to see her pictures. However, within 2 weeks time I have found 24 of my friends. One of the best things was that Facebook will show you all the people connected to a certain location, job or institution. Since I went to a very good but small college, I knew about 3/4 of the people connected to my college.
So anyway, I do enjoy posting on blogger (I never liked writing but it is growing on me), but every time I sit down to the computer I have to choose. After I do email, do I go to Blogger or Facebook? The curse of too much information.......sigh........................on the brighter side, if anyone that I know wants another friend on Facebook you can search for Jonathan David Olson!!!
