Read carefully

Be sure that when you read something that you actually read what it says..........it will lead to a lot less confusion. Avido glancing at ad on the way past: Hum...what is lubricating your computer....hum......WHAT?!?!? Avido going back and reading again: Oh! What is lurking in your computer! (Don't ask about the process of arriving at the former from the latter.)

Opportunities

Today I had an awesome time visiting a really great place . The visit really excited me (that was accentuated by the three cups of coffee and the coke imbibed throughout the day) about next fall. Well, excited mixed with great fear and trepidation! Yeah for grad school!

Why?

Why is it that society considers it OK for women to wear open toed shoes and flip-flops in the work place, but requires men to reserve such freedom for nights and weekends? Oh the inequity of the situation! And oh the bliss my feet will now enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the flip-flops that is)

Would you?

You are the pastor of a 900 member church. You stand on the historical foundations of the faith, you don't pull any punches when talking about the issues. You are known to your church and your community as one that believes the Bible and stands by what it teaches. So when a group of Muslims asks if they can use your facilities for a one time event, what would you say and why? How would Matt. 5:13-16 impact your thinking?

Growing pains

There are times in your life where you just sit back and think, "I'm old." Your mind recognizes the fact that comparatively you aren't really that old, but for whatever reason, your age just sounds old. These times are often punctuated with events that highlight the fact that something is not as it used to be. Maybe it is easier now, maybe it is not. Perhaps something costs you less now, more oft the opposite is true. One of these "events" for me is the fact that as we grow older, our metabolism changes. If there is one thing that I enjoy about this life it is friends and food (......what...???). Anyway, as I progress down this path called life, I find that there are more and more delicious things to eat. This, coupled with the fact that I am expected to eat as much as I did 8 years ago, and the decrease in metabolic rate has led to a most unfortunate trend. Now, I hear you laughing..............but I enjoy being physically fit so you can see how the interse...

To the end of the world and back again

While in reality's sake it has not been long since my last posting, it seems like it has been a very long time. While on the one hand not much has happened since I last published any thoughts, on the other much has happened (among which one of the most exciting was dealing with my first injury at a youth event -- he was fine with the biggest problem, aside from the four staples in the head, being the disappointment that they canceled the helicopter because his injury was not that severe). All other things aside, I come away from this hiatus in blogging with one very important lesson. While more and more it seems that the world is becoming automated and ones ability to use computers forms a direct link to ones success, it is important to distinguish between necessity and dependence. I took this break, not only from blogging but also from facebook and most uses of search engines at the suggestion of a friend. This friend is one who is always there for me even when I am trying to fig...
